As a cinephile and action cinema aficionado, I love debating the feats of a character versus another from a completely different franchise. I worship thoughts of crossovers and outcomes between parties, given their respective accomplishments. I love the ‘John Wick’ franchise because it made Heroic Bloodshed cinema, once again, step their game up. Similar to how ‘The Raid’ movies encouraged martial arts films to take their choreography and editing to the next level. The characters chosen from the selection below are also used as loose archetypes in an upcoming ‘Omniverse Myths’ short story about my wonderful world of assassins and a tournament similar to ‘The Club’ for the Xbox 360 and the film ‘The Tournament’. Be on the lookout for that tale soon!

10. INSPECTOR “TEQUILA” YUEN (‘HARD BOILED’]

“A cop who loses his partner in a shoot-out with gun smugglers goes on a mission to catch them. In order to get closer to the leaders of the ring he joins forces with an undercover cop who’s working as a gangster hitman. They use all means of excessive force to find them.”

9. JOHN PRESTON (‘EQUILIBRIUM’)

“In a futuristic world, a regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Clerick John Preston (Christian Bale) is a top-ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist these rules. When he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the one capable of overthrowing it.”

8. WESLEY GIBSON (‘WANTED’)

“Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is an office worker whose life is going nowhere. After his estranged father is murdered, he meets Fox (Angelina Jolie), who recruits him into the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins which takes its orders from Fate itself. Fox and Sloan (Morgan Freeman), the Fraternity’s leader, teach Wesley to tap into dormant powers. Though he enjoys his newfound abilities, he begins to suspect that there is more to the Fraternity than meets the eye.”

7. SOOK-HEE (‘THE VILLAINESS’)

“Honed from childhood to be an elite assassin, Sook-hee embarks on a rampage of violence and revenge to finally earn her freedom and escape her past.”

6. KANG-I-AN (‘SPIRITWALKER’)

“Unable to remember anything about his life, a man begins regaining consciousness in a new body every 12 hours. Now, he must piece together his identity, all while evading attacks from pursuing agents and dangerous criminals alike.”

5. CARTER LEE (‘CARTER’)

“A man wakes up missing his memories. Directed by a mysterious voice from a device in his ear, he sets off on a hostage rescue mission rife with danger.”

4. CHRISTIAN WOLFF (‘THE ACCOUNTANT’)

“Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent (J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.”

3. SMITH (‘SHOOT ‘EM UP’)

“After saving a newborn infant from assassins, carrot-crunching gunman Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) teams up with a prostitute named DQ (Monica Bellucci) to protect the baby from further attacks. With hit man Hertz (Paul Giamatti) hot on their trail, Smith and DQ uncover a dying senator’s plot to harvest bone marrow from babies just like the one in their arms.”

2.TOSHIRO KURODA a.k.a. TAK∴ (‘Re:Born’)

“Re:Born is a 2016 Japanese action film directed by Yûji Shimomura and starring Tak Sakaguchi (as TAK∴). It is about Toshiro, a legendary covert soldier with a mysterious past, who decides to use his supernatural powers to defend what he cares about.”

1. HIT-GIRL (‘KICK ASS’)

“Using his love for comics as inspiration, teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) decides to reinvent himself as a superhero — despite a complete lack of special powers. Dave dons a costume, dubs himself “Kick-Ass,” and gets to work fighting crime. He joins forces with the father/daughter vigilante team of Big Daddy and Hit Girl, then befriends another fledgling crime-fighter called Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), but a scheming mobster soon puts their alliance to the test.”
